Should I start taking a creatine supplement?

I took creatine years ago on three separate occasions when I used to lift weights and each time I noticed a difference in the amount of weight I could lift - benches, curls, squats, deadlifts, etc. From what I understand it works for most people, but not all. If it works for you the way it did for me you will experience a boost in the amount of weight you are able to lift. Be careful to proceed slowly with increases in weights lifted. Increase the weight by 5% or so at a time. Don't try to do too much too fast or you will hurt yourself. When you stop taking it you will experience only a slight decrease in the amount of weight you can lift, but if you continue working out you will be able to work back up to your previous workout weights. The only problem with it is that you will add 6 to 8 pounds to your body weight, exclusive of new muscle m, when you have been taking it for a while and when you stop taking it you will not lose the extra weight. It's as though you re-set your body's weight "set point".
