Trying to watch movies?

I am trying to watch movies on my laptop that I downloaded from Graboid.The Graboid works great when online,but I can't watch the downloaded movies using my laptop,when not online,what do I need to watch these movies.I use Vista Basic on my laptop.Do I need to download a codex? and if so which one?,and where can I download it for free.Thanks Mike
